RGB - Is for colours on a screen

Colour spectrums and swatches:
Swatch palette enables you to select colours as well as save colours in the palette. 
Shift and click to select many, cmd and click to select individuals in the swatch palette. 
Deleted all colour other than white, black, no fill and symbol for trim marks/crop and registration marks (things that are printed but not part of design).


Colour palette - create new swatch

Add colour to swatch palette, build up collection before beginning to design.


Change setting to small list view to see colour as well as colour percentage.

Use per pet tool to add colour whilst designing is another way of working.
Add used colours, to apply colours whilst designing to swatch palette. 

Colour used from existing art work (those with the small white corner) are global colours. If you edit the CMYK values of colour, any where that the global swatch has been applied will also change.

You can you swatches to apply tints to global colour by changing the percentages from 100% to 80, 60, 40 etc.

Spot Colours:
Printing with an ink that isn't made up of CMYK colour.
Spot colour is just a pot of ink that s that colour, own ready mixed ink. 
Fluorescent and metallic inks are spot colours.
Spot colours are cost effective, cheaper for print and the client. 
Spot colours are consistent for example in corporate logos and in packaging. 
Each watch has a unique reference number - pantone...

Swatch, open swatch library, colour books are where the spot colours are located. 
Pantone + Solid uncoated palette.

Click on any of the colour and it will add to swatch library, its identified as a spot colour by the small spot in the little white corner of the colour square.

Opening on another illustrator document:


Make use of swatch palettes in other adobe programmes
save as ASE.

Load another programme (Id) open swatch palette, load swatches and select saved swatch.
