Communication is a virus

For the communication is a virus brief, my group an I placed some ideas together about what concept we would like to base it around.
We brain stormed activities, jobs or subjects that people could try for a first time, or to practice in.

From this we decided we ought to to pick a category each to get familiar with, however amber said it was best we just picked one subject and went with it. Our decision was 'Arts and crafts'. Our concept was to develop an arts and crafts magazine that would be available for people to read and use as directions to get familiar with the subject or to interact themselves with an certain art or craft.
We decided we ought to give ourselves a category to research so that we could perhaps produce a double page spread about the things we had learnt to share with others. For example: screen printing, knitting, thread work, clothes making, installation etc.
Unfortunately we didn't manage our time efficiently and didn't decide on a good idea quick enough, so we turned things around, changed the concept and started from scratch. After a crit with Amber we introduced out new idea and we were helped to get the design process on the go.

Get people to try something new 'listen to a different genre of music'

Communication is a Virus//Design Ideas

Concept
'get people to try something new'

the Problem
how can students in Leeds can be encouraged to listen to and experience new music, different to their usual choice of genre?

Rationale
- to encourage people to branch out from music genres they know and love and experience the diverse music scene in Leeds as a student

- to help promote some of the different music nights/gigs etc. that go on in Leeds

Audience
students in Leeds

Method of Delivery
- x5 different cd designs (five different genres of music), 5 copies of each cd; 25 cd's in total to be circulated
- each cd will have five tracks on by different artists (relevant to selected genre) that are playing upcoming gigs in Leeds
- the cd will be packaged with details about a Twitter page that allows for us to collect feedback and respond to people about music in Leeds as well as allowing us to measure our success
- we will also produce a poster to help promote the campaign around college

Context
- student union, library, graphic design studio, around college etc.

We each picked a genre of music which was interesting to research:
Me - Indie
Kate - Motown
Josh - Reggae
Emily - Hiphop
Sophia - jazz/ Blues
