Collaborative - D&C/ Music event

After much research and planning Emily and I generated an idea which would work perfectly for the message we are trying to convey in one image.

Our main idea was to think outside the box and not just create a single image but a concept that evolves around an image and almost stimulates it. The plan is to create a music event inspired by popular music trends today and to involve our peers and ourselves as a representation of how we live in culture during our youth.

The plan is to produce work which is an extension of how we want to interprit contemporary youth culture, to do so we will create:

Promotional material

- Invitations  (to invite guests to the event)
- Flyers (to distribute to create awareness)
- Journal/ publication (to evidence the planning, preparation, and outcome of the event)
- Poster (final image presented along side of supporting material)

Emily and I share similar music tastes and are both admirers of music styles such as:

- Jungle
- Reggae
- DnB
- Dubstep
- Dance

All of the above are music genres that have gained mainstream success and are known to be played at festivals and warehouses all over the world due to their popularity. We often attend events with our peers where we celebrate our interest in music as well as enjoy an atmosphere surrounded by a community of people who are there for the same reasons.

To convey this message through imagery we believe creating our own staged musical event could interpret what we believe to be our contemporary youth, it's aim is to create an experience that can be captured, which will show individuals a significant period of time in the modern day.

Locations

Originally Emily and I discussed locations whilst looking around Leeds gathering primary research, we observed abandoned buildings such as shops and warehouses to perhaps consider, another place was under the rail way station there are empty tunnels, this would have been perfect for a grimy outdoor feel. After weighing up the odds we believed the best location to used was the basement of my house, the dark and dingy look resembles a lot about the events we attend and has the underground music aspect written all over it.

The basement

Here are a few image of the empty basement which will eventually be turned into a venue for our event.
