Design for print and web/ ISTD/ App design

Here are a few images to show the design development of my app, all the design work is altered vector s from the website as i needed to make them look more suiting for a smart phone.

I developed an app logo from the original logo design i made which was used for promoting Plantae pantone and for the website.

For the buttons on the app i created inner glows on each to make them look slightly 2d.

Originals:

Edited:

Each button represent each of the pages you can navigate to just like the website.

As previously stated designing for web and are are different, here are the slight changes i made to the 'favourite button'.

As an smart phone is narrower than an average computer screen, the lay out of each page need to be changed, this is more of  scrolling down system, much like instagram, an easy way of viewing single images.

The Website name is Plantate Pantone and the App name is a conjoined and abbreviated version Plantone, i think this works well for an app name, its easy to remember and users will still recognise that it t the smart phone version of the website Plantae Pantone.

Design for print and web/ ISTD/ Image edits

Here are all the images i edited for the gallery website, i originally sourced the photographs from the gardeners world website as they were they were great quality and and there was a huge range to choose from.

Below it and example of the an original image and a edited version to show the difference.

For these edits i experiment with, hue, brightness, contrast, effect and added borders to the now squared images, each one has a different look, to seem as though a different person has taken it on the gallery.

Design for print and web/ ISTD/ Gallery mock up

Features and functions:

- The gallery features the best photographs taken by users of the plantae pantone website.
- A visual appeal to want to join the website and be part of the online gardening community.
- The ability to favourite photographs incase the user wants to find the selected plant, to for example purchase.

The gallery page has a similar layout to the Plantae Pantone page due to their being a selection of images on here.

Below is the design of how the gallery scroll look, a continues change of images which would be uploaded by registers users of the website, its purpose is to show the art of gardening through colour, image, photography and sharing much like other sharing websites such as pinterest, tumblr, facebook, twitter, instagram etc.

When the user clicks on an image a box appears stating what the plant is, hashtags of its characteristics and an option to favourite the photo, this kind of interaction allows none registered viewers to see the option of what is available on the site and will encourage them to join to be part of the communicating and sharing circle.

Here is the starting point of the design i made for the gallery search logo whcih was inspired by the colour wheel.

Although i liked the design i thought it was best suited on the Plantae Pantone page as that pages concept was all about colour.

Overall i'm pleased with this page, it does exactly what it should and look visually appealing, i'm glad i chose to incorporate elements of photography instead of vector designing throughout the full website as this adds reality to it. In general i'm happy with the photos i produced too, the originals were sources from the gardeners world website, which i then edited to make look stylised for the gallery.

Design for print and web/ ISTD/ Forum mock up

Functions and features:

- Becoming a member of an online community.
- The option to join the Plantae Pantone forum for more information, fact and the choice to talk to other members.
- Joining enables users to post images to the gallery and communicate through the love of plants within imagery.

Again to keep the website consistent i used element from the home page to design the forum page.

The reason for having a forum page is for users to be able to register the website and have an account, to be able to use it as apposed to just looking on it. Or users who have already registers they have the advantage of using the forum as a learning and interactive playground, it allows users to chat to other users of the website, the ability to talk all things flower, ferns and foliage to other plant lovers, its a social domain for people who like plants.

Design for print and web/ ISTD/ Who are we? mock up

Functions and features:
- An informative guide to understanding the idea, purpose and advantage of planate pantone the website.
- A structured understanding to what the website is available for.

The who are we page is a starting point for users to click on to discover what the website is about, can be used for and why its available.

The layout of the page is identical to the home page, this is due to the fact there were five points of interest to address and i wanted the design to flow from the home page to the who are we page. Where as the rest of the pages are more colour full and have features, the home page and who are we are quite simple design wise.
