Copper beech acoustic: Business cards

Below are the business cards I developed and designed for Copper Beech Acoustic, over all I am happy with the end result and the variety of cards produced.

I stook to a standard business card size 90x50mm.

I made slight alterations to the logo design on the cards and adjusted the placement in some areas, I feel this show the alternative concept behind the designs.

Copper Beech Acoustic: Business card development

This initial brief set by the clients was to only design a logo, how ever I wanted to extend the brief a little to produce more work, I informed the clients about my ideas and they were happy to use the graphic pieces which I produce.

I used the colour palette to apply duotone effects to the image of a copper beech tree.

I then edited the images into circular shapes to apply to the logos.

Copper beech acoustic: Logo designs

I chose a colour palette which I believed would compliment the tones in the video which the clients sent me. The colour theme was earth tones such as greens and browns with a tint of burgundy.

I digitalised one of my initial sketches which symbolises a copper beech tree incorporated to the strings of an acoustic guitar.

I tested lines on the logo to see whether its needed to look more structured or natural.

I tried placing the logo over a still from the video to test colours and placement and to see whether alterations needed to be made.

Below are the four final logos which I believed worked best, the complimenting colours are easy to work with when furthering my designs.

Copper beech acoustic: Initial designs

Using a typeface I had designed for a previous brief iI thought it may be useful to use for designing a logo for 'Copper Beech Acoustic'.

I used the typeface to add nature like aspects to the letterforms such as a sunset and mountain scenery as these are reminders of the lake district in Cumbria.

Using a still from the video the collaborators had sent me, I applied the logo to the image in a variety of different ways.

Here I altered the logo slightly by combing each of the initials C,B,A.
I changed the aspect of the logo from nature - like to more instrumental.

Copper beech acoustic: Meeting with clients

Today I decided to meet up with the collaborators to share some comments about the project as I needed to ask them some questions before starting any designs.

Here is a quick questionnaire I put together to gather some information to build on.

Q. What was the main inspiration for the video project?

A. Our musician peers, the people we have grew up around in cumbria, and the individuals who have inspired us musically.

Q. Is there a concept behind the name 'Copper beech acoustic'?

A. It's a real tree, autumn appeal, reminder of home in Cumbria.

Q. Think of a range of words that come to mind when you envision your video project?

A. Music, enthusiastic, original, lake district, art.

Q. What age range is this project appealing to?

A. Wide range on people, though who are interested in playing music and who like music videos.

Q. What scale am I working to design on?

A. Roughly A4 for the youtube to be enlarged to.

After meeting with Emma and Tom I feel a lot more informed about the concept behind the project and I can get started on some designs.

Below is a list of things i should consider researching:

- Copper Beech trees
- Instrument illustrations
- Fonts
- Logo design
- CD covers
- Posters
