Design is about doing: Revisit/ final designs

Further development to posters
I wasn't fully happy with my previous posters and i wanted to re-work the style and colour scheme of them. I was aiming for a more subtle approach using pastel colours and simple vector designs, i wanted to portray icon british imagery in the designs such as: the queen and her corgis, i think this approach would make the posters look more appealing as they are supposed to show 'great british weather'.

Here are my final three designs, i think using Frederick's quote to inspire my posters was helpful as i wanted to portray the quote it self in the design, expressing light hearted humour about the British weather.

This is the poster i decided to send off to the Erik Kessels compettiion, over all i'm pleased with the outcome, using iconic British imagery and sayings helped me underpin  what i wanted to portray.

Design is about doing: The poster brief

The brief
You are required to design a series of three A2 posters (portrait from) that communicate:
''It always rains in your country. Make a poster for visitors to the UK explaining why so much rain is attractive. Don't be sarcastic. After all, rain can be romantic, useful or beautiful.''

Background:
Poster will be seen by people representing the creative industry in the north.
Erik Kessels will be judging the winner of the competition who will be rewarded with a print of their poster, and the rare book 2Kilo of KesselsKramer and A New Kilo of KesselsKramer.

Poster 1 Is inspired by the quote written by Frederick The Great ''A crown is merely a hat that lets the rain in''

I thought using this quote could be quite interesting, meaning that Great British weather gets everyone, including the queen in her iconic topless hat. Light hearted humor to engage with the viewer?

Poster 2 Is inspired by the famous propaganda poster produced by the British government in 1939 'KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON..', i decided to use this as a foundation for the poster as the quote is eye catching and remember-able.

'Let if rain cats and corgis' i developed from the British saying 'it's raining cats and dogs' referring the amount of rain we have every year.
'Corgis' - royal family twist.

Colour theory investigation: Saturation

The third part for colour theory was to show saturation in the images, the contrast of saturation is formed by the juxtaposing of light and dark between the background and the object.
