Collaborative - D&C/ Garden shoot edits

Editing process

The editing process of the photography has been very consistent throughout, I used layered imagery and RGB tones to create effective and colourful work.

Final results

The colours used are effectively similar tones as the spray paint Emily and I picked for the spray painting of the basement.

Most of the imagery resembles lively silhouettes, this theme is intended as we were inspired by festivals and the atmosphere at them in order to create these photographs.

Collaborative - D&C/ Street art

To include elements of street culture into the publication we wanted graffiti art to be a huge aspect of #basement, here are some photographs to show how street art has inspired us and others to produce work.

Collaborative - D&C/ Jewellery and accessories

To show current symbolic trends, we thought an unusual way of doing it would be to take the illustrative approach, this idea was inspired by a double page spread in a Topshop publication.

To produce the images I used pieces of jewellery which have been trending since 2012, which are based on geometric shapes, skulls and symbols such as crosses and peace signs. Below are the small characters I made for the publication.

Collaborative - D&C/ Contributors

Emily and I gave ourselves the role of directors as we produced concept fuelled work and communicated well enough to work in different fields of art, design and entertainment. We collaborated with other individuals such as video makers, photographers, musicians and artists to create an event in relation to the brief.

In order to acknowledge the efforts from people we wanted to have a contributors page in the publication. Below is an example of the creative directors profile shot taken by Sam:

We decided on circular black and white images for the profile shots as these had a contemporary look about them.

Collaborative - D&C/ Shoes

We decided to introduce a taster of fashion into the publication, shoes can say a lot about peoples taste in fashion, in order to show this I used two images from my primary research which we believed could show this well.

Original images

Edited images

We liked the reflective aspect of the imagery, as it shows an assortment of shoes along with vintage clothing two very popular sides of contemporary fashion.

Collaborative - D&C/ Image - Submission

Final image

Although the photograph taken was staged and encouraged to be captured, it still resembles a very natural mood, thus being the events of a night, it shows people dancing and behaving in a way which someone would when surrounded by others and music. Another quality is the colour blend I produced in the image, green to pink, the spray paint colours which we selected for the graffiti work in the basement.

Collaborative - D&C/ Front cover

For the front cover i wanted to use and image which appealed to be quite abstract, for this i thought the best photographs to edit would be the unusual light imagery.

This is an original image taken of the light wire we used in entrance room.

The editing process was very simple i simply adjusted the hue and saturation to create different colours in the light, another element was layering and mirroring the light to form a bizarrely miss shaped image.

This is the final front cover we chose to use.
